Life

I go so busy and did not keep fitting this into my schedule.  Shame on me.  I enjoyed writing the blog and now I need to catch up.  I have had plenty of events occur since I was last here.  Stay tuned.

Her Birthday

It’s been a minute since I’ve blogged.  I’ve been working, and exercising, gardening and taking car of our chickens.  Today, our middle daughter turns 18.  I am taking her out to breakfast at a four star restauraunt and then to the BMV.  She made her cake over the weekend and our cousin decorated it for her.  I am glad she is finally 18.  Hoping she continues to grow into the mature, responsible Yah fearing woman I have raised her to be.  She plans on going with her Nana to get her ears pierced.  She starts college this fall.  She graduated high school in Jan.  Now, the only thing that will stop her from achieving is herself.  Pics to come.  Thanks for reading.

A Day in “Paradise”

I have been ripping and running I have not been able to blog this week as planned.  I worked Sun, Mon., and Tues. at the jail as a nurse.  I love the job.  I’ve been doing that for almost ten years.  On Sun. I did treatments.  The inmates have gun shot wounds, dog bites, staples, and abscesses that I treat.  On Mon. night, I worked Intake.  Intake involves seeing the inmate soon after they are brought in by the police.  Last month, I had one inmate I had to refuse.  I had the officer take him to the hospital.  He came back with about five-seven stitches and then was acceptable to me.  On Tues. night, I was the Charge Nurse.  I work upstairs on the Medical Unit.  I see inmates who need a little more care, complete the medication pass, and I see inmate who come in and need immediate nursing care, but are not bad enough to send to the hospital.  On my break, I was able to squeeze in a 30 min workout at the gym there.  I was exhausted by the time I got off.

New York City in July

I am turning 40 in seven weeks and am going to NYC.  Two of my kids will be at camp.  My husband and son are driving up and I am flying up early to see the city and a show on Broadway.  I am staying in Brooklyn and Manhattan.  My sis in law and my good friend Hadassah along with my husband’s Aunt is coming.  They have never been to New York.  I am so excited.  I plan on seeing The Lion King with my Aunt.  I’ll go out to eat with fam and enjoy the night life on my BIG 40.  I wanted to be in Israel and since I can’t get there, I will be in New York, Yah willing.  I will take lots of pics.  I like traveling and NYC is my most fav place in the USA to visit.  I like it better than Miami, Chicago, D.C., Las Vegas, and Cali.

A busy week plus lots of exercising

I have been so busy lately I’ve had to make time to blog.  I have been exercising a lot and have not lost a pound.  I decided to run five days a week now instead of three.  I am on week six of my run application.  I am going to back track to week five and run outside versus the treadmill.  I sometimes have a hard time making it until it’s time to walk.  I used to be a good runner and I am working myse;f back up to that point.  On Mon.I did my Zumba class and ran.  On Tues, I belly danced, did water Zumba and the Zumba in the class.  Weds. I ran and belly danced.  On Thurs. I did Zumba and ran and today I hula hooped and went running.  I have been exercising faithfully, eating my fruits and veggies and only meat if I do on the weekends.  My body is getting toned and people are saying that I am slimming down.  I still feel big.  I really want to lose 20 lbs. and I know running and working out twice a days at least four days a week will get me there.  I do strength training as well 3 times a week.  I am liking the definition.  I want to fit in my old clothes though.  I have a few more weeks to reach my goal.

Family Trip

We went to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg for the weekend.  It wasn’t long enough.  We had so much fun.  I am already looking forward to our next family vacation.  The turn out was great.  My parents came, four of my children, my brother in law, one nephew, one Aunt and one cousin, and my grandson.  The five bedroom cabin seemed to shrink as we unpacked and made it to our respective spots.  My husband and I had a bedroom downstairs with the children.  We hiked in the Smokey Mountains, the kids went Go Kart racing, and we rode a coaster through the mountain.  That was the scariest thing ever.  I won’t try that again.  We never got to the waterfall on our hike.  I heard it was disappointing so, I am glad we didn’t walk the additional two hours.  We had a family meal at Texas Roadhouse.  The chili was good.  We ate all the other meals at the cabin.  I am still full. My mother and daughter made sorbet.  That’s strawberries, pineapples, lemon, and sugar blended and frozen.  It was yummy.

A busy weekend

It’s been a free days since I have blogged. I’ve continued to exercise like the gym is my second job.  Today, am hula hoop, then belly dancing.  I did my couch to 5 k app and am now in week four.  I did 1.5 miles.  I only burned 150 calories on the treadmill.  On the Arc trainer, I can burn 200 calories in 20 minutes.  I am glad to be able to run again.

I went to my little cousin’s wedding this Saturday.  The highlight for me was when he changed out her shoes at the altar.  They had a matching pair of Keds or something close.  Then, they skipped down the aisle hand in hand.  I was so cute.   I love seeing happy couples.

Yesterday was Monday.  I went to work for eight hours at the jail and saw about 60 inmates for physicals.  After work, I came home and picked up the kids and headed to the YMCA.  I went to my Zumba class and my middle daughter Kyla joined me.  I am a Zumba fan.

I am part of a group and one lady was fasting and so I joined her.  She was able to do 36 hours of a liquid diet.  I haven’t had any food since Monday and am hanging in there.  I rarely do a liquid diet.  There are times when i may eaten vegan and vegetarian for a spell.  I will eat a salad tomorrow evening to break this fast.  I like to eat food regularly.

Let’s get caught up since I missed a few days.  Yesterday, I did my morning hula hooping, and went to belly dance.  I went back in the evening with my daughter’s and we did the water Zumba class.  I did two miles on the treadmill after Zumba.  Lots of showers that day.  Today, I hula hooped before work.  I work, I sat on my stability ball for two hours and exercised my legs and abs.  In the evening, I did the cardio belly dance and did 1.5 miles on the treadmill.  I am on week three of my C25K run app.  I’ll be back to running three miles or more before you know.  And to think I used to run track and went to state in Cross Country.  I am getting my groove back.
